NEW YORK -- Following appearances at Colorado’s Boulder Fringe Festival, David
Lefkowitz, a longtime theater journalist and award-winning playwright, will perform
his solo comedy, "The Miracle of Long Johns," at Studio Theater in Theater Row, 410
West 42nd Street, October 23 as part of the 2015 United Solo Theater Festival.
Written and performed by Lefkowitz, the show tells of his many years as a New York
City theater critic, including an account of an excruciatingly difficult night in
the theater that is a suspenseful tale of dedication, patience, endurance, humility
and surprise.
A theater critic for nearly three decades, David Lefkowitz left New York in 2009 and
currently teaches at the University of Northern Colorado where his radio program,
"Dave’s Gone By" (davesgoneby.com), is enjoying its 13th season mixing talk, humor,
interviews, and culture. Lefkowitz’s play "Kandide" won the Lee Korf Playwriting
Award and was produced in Los Angeles. He also co-wrote and directed the comedy
show "Shalom, Dammit! An Evening with Rabbi Sol Solomon," which played two
engagements at NYC’s Richmond Shepard and Roy Arias Theaters as well as in Colorado.
Production of "The Miracle of Long Johns" at the United Solo Theater Festival has
been entirely crowd-funded via Indiegogo.com, thanks to many generous individuals and
group donations.
