(New York, NY: October 29, 2015) The Complete Theatre Company will present the American Premiere of "Shakespeare (in Space)", a dark comedy by the Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, Elchin. The play is set in a psychiatric facility in the war-torn republic of Azerbaijan. Two of the patients are Joseph Stalin and Sarah Bernhardt. A new patient arrives, who claims to be from another planet, and transforms the entire mental hospital through the writings of Shakespeare.
Playwright Elchin is an Azerbaijani writer, professor, and politician who has served as Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan since 1993.
Director Annie Ward is the Founder and artistic Director of The Complete Theatre Company. She has directed and produced over fifty shows in NYC and is the first American to direct an Azerbaijan play. The Complete Theatre Company is a social and professional network of actors and writers who collaborate to build and share a diverse body of work.
"Shakespeare (in Space)" will be presented at Theater 3, 311 West 43rd Street, 3rd Floor, NYC.
