Ballet Hispanico at Lincoln Center / The Culture News

Celebrating its 45th anniversary as America’s premier Latino dance company, Ballet Hispanico will be seen in performance in movie theaters nationwide on Thursday, November 12 at 7:00 pm (local time), as the third program of the Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance series. Led by Artistic Director Eduardo Vilaro, Ballet Hispanico performs a repertory that reflects the ever-changing diversity of Latino cultures. On November 12, the company will perform two audience favorites: CARMEN.maquia, an electrifying contemporary take on Bizet’s passionate opera choreographed by Spaniard Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, and Club Havana, a virtuosic re-imagining of a sizzling nightclub by Cuban-born choreographer Pedro Ruiz. Produced by Lincoln Center and presented in association with Fathom Events, Lincoln Center at the Movies: Great American Dance brings spectacular dance performances by four of America’s leading dance companies to approximately 600 movie theaters throughout the U.S. in the fall and winter of 2015. The first program, on September 24, was San Francisco Ballet’s Romeo & Juliet, followed on October 22 by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. Concluding this inaugural season of the series are two screenings of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker™ by New York City Ballet on December 5 and 10. The series is hosted by LIVE with Kelly and Michael stars Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan.
