New York - When you think of physics, the first word that pops into your head might not be 'fun' or 'exciting'—but that will soon change. The Quantum Cop by successful writer and particle physicist Lesley L. Smith, Ph.D. makes physics both entertaining and accessible for readers, smashing the science fiction mold by explaining physics through an unexpected heroine that faces the breakdown of reality, a devious pupil, and a scorching romance with an attractive coworker.

When physics professor Madison Martin is hit by a car, her quantum expertise and survival instinct enable her to rewrite reality to save her own life. While understandably freaked out about the events, luckily the attractive physicist from the office next door volunteers to help her decipher what just happened. As their chemistry begins to sizzle, she finds she's ready for some experiments of a more biological nature.

Unbeknownst to Madison, her star student witnesses the accident and also learns how to control reality. He and his friends go on a quantum crime spree starting with never-ending beer and sorority girls losing their shirts, and progressing to bank robbery and worse. Everything seems lost when the nature of reality is endangered as fundamental forces begin to change, threatening stability of our world. Can Madison overcome the odds, thwart her evil student, and save reality itself?

A new take on science fiction, The Quantum Cop fills a gap in this genre by featuring a protagonist that challenges scientific stereotypes. Topics and themes explored in The Quantum Cop include:

  • How physics is all around us, from the tiniest quarks inside our bodies to the largest structures in the universe.

  • That physics is logical: anyone can understand it with a little effort and a guiding hand.

  • Breaking the stereotypes that surround scientists by featuring physicists who actively have fun, adventure and steamy romances.

  • Quantum mechanics shows humans have a special role in the universe and how that can impact the fabric of reality itself.
