United Solo Offers a New Master Class With Internationally Acclaimed Actor Allan Corduner, Currently Starring in “My Fair Lady” on Broadway
This class with Allan Corduner, taking place on Monday, April 30, 2018, at Theatre Row in New York City, will provide an opportunity to explore voice techniques for stage, screen, and voiceover. Participants will learn the basics of preparing for auditions, developing a character, and exploring vocal possibilities for audiobooks, radio, podcasts, and interviews. Mr. Corduner is an actor with a broad range of credits and achievements. He is currently starring as Colonel Pickering in “My Fair Lady” at Lincoln Center. Participants are expected to prepare a short piece of text of their choice to work on. This may be an audition speech, a speech from a dramatic scene, an original work, a poem, or a public presentation — any text of a two-minute duration. This class is dedicated to those interested in developing their skills in acting and solo performance. “It’s hard enough being an actor but I think to be a solo performer you have to be driven, and have a burning desire. That’s something to celebrate,” said Mr. Corduner.

This Master Class is presented by United Solo, a New York-based company dedicated to the genre of solo performance. Since its inception in 2010, United Solo has featured nearly 1,000 productions from all over the world. Each year, United Solo presents solo pieces, discovers original scripts, connects theatre artists with their audiences, and expands its new series of Master Classes for theater artists, students, and enthusiasts with all levels of experience. “It is quite rewarding to see how effectively the participants of our Master Classes develop their works to later perform their shows on the stage at the festival,” said Dr. Omar Sangare, the founder and artistic director of United Solo. The United Solo Master Series is led by world-class theatre professionals, whose accomplishments and credits promise a first-class educational experience, including Fiona Shaw, Tony Award Winner and 5-time Olivier Award Recipient; Pau Aran Gimeno, dancer and choreographer with Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch; James Lecesne, performer and screenwriter of the Oscar-winning film “Trevor”; and Austin Pendleton, actor and director, and recipient of the Drama Desk Special Award.
